HISTORIC ROUTE BY AIR (8 DAYS/7 NIGHTS)
Day 1: Arrive in Addis Ababa a warm welcome at the airport, and then transfer to your hotel. Morning will be free. Afternoon, start your sightseeing tour of Addis Ababa, starting your tour from the Trinity Cathedral, visit to the National Museum (archaeological and historical), which has the best collection of Ethiopian antiquities and archeological discoveries, including the famous oldest hominid “Lucy”; then drive up to Mt. Entoto, the highest part of the capital, where you will have a panoramic view over the town of Addis Ababa; a drive down to the biggest open air market in East Africa called Mercato. Day 2: Around 05:00 hrs, drive to the airport to fly to Bahir Dar by ET 122. Around 07:00-08:00 am, arrive at Bahir Dar after a 55 minutes’ flight. Drive to Tana Hotel for check-in. drive to Tisissat (45 minutes) to get to the water fall, which is 35km away from Bahir Dar. At Tisissat, you get a chance to see the “smoke of the Nile” from the usual vantage points. Board on boat to cross Lake Tana. En route, you will visit the churches of UraKidanemihret, Mehal Zege Georgis and Aswa Marim Late in the afternoon, you will arrive in back Bahir Dar- at around 17:00 hrs- you might get a chance to see the very stunning sun-set from the boat. Overnight and dinner at Tana Hotel.
Day 3: Morning transfer to airport to Fly to Gonder by ET122, transfer to Goha Hotel. Start visiting the 17th century capital of Ethiopia: Gonder. Sites to visit include: the castle compound (UNESCO World Heritage Site), King Fasiledes’ Bath, the Debre Birhan Selassie (The light of Trinity) church with wonderful murals, Qusqam church and Mentwab palace. Later, drive to the Jewish village called Welaka, 6Km away from Gonder. Overnight will be at Goha Hotel.
Day 4, Make a day Excursion to Semin Mountain, Drive to Debark in the morning, 100Kms from Gonder, the Headquarter of the Semien Mountains National Park. Proceed to Sankaber, 37Kms farther, which is your first trekking starting spot, 3250 ms above sea level. Spend the day trekking around the camp sites. Lunch will be served by lunch boxes on top of the view point; here you will see some endemic Ethiopian Birds like wattle Ibis, and some mammals like the Gelada Baboon. Around 15:00hrs, you will drive back to Gonder. Overnight Goha Hotel3*.
Day 5, Early in the morning, drive to the airport to fly to Lalibella in the morning and then transfer from the airport to your hotel. The airport is 26 Km from the hotel- it will be a half-an-hour drive. After check-in, start visiting the rock hewn churches of Lalibella. Today you wil tour the first group of churches (the grouping is according to their geographical location): Bete Medhane Alem, Bete Mariam and Bete Meskel. Return to your hotel for lunch at 12:30 AM, and continue touring the rest of the first group of churches after 14:00 AM. Return to your hotel at 17:30 AM. Overnight will be at Roha and Tikul Guest Hotel.
Day 6, Early in the morning make a mule excursion to Asheten Mariam church, where you will the semi-monolithic church which was hewed out by the nephew of King Lalibella, then back to Hotel for lunch afternoon visit the remaining churches in Lalibella by the 2nd group of the rock hewn churches of Lalibella: Bete Emanuel, Bete Rafael and Gabriel, Bete Mercury’s and Aba Libanos. continue your tour from the stunning Bete Giorgis, which was hewed out with the Greek cross, then walk back to your Hotel. Overnight will be at Roha or Tikul Guest Hotel.
Day 7, At 07:30, transfer to the airport to fly to Axum by ET 122 0950-1030 and then transfer to your hotel, which is 10 minutes drive from the airport. Sightseeing in Axum, a town steeped in more than 2500 years of history, from the palace and tomb of King Kaleb (6th C, AD). You will also visit the extraordinary Stella’s records as a world heritage site (WHS) and the tomb of king Remhay (1st to 4th C, AD). Visit the church of St Mary of Tsion (17th C, AD), in which is deposited the Arc of the Covenant. Return to your hotel for lunch. Drive out of the town to Gonder, 4 Km away, where you will walk up to see the rock-carved lion and palace from where the Stella's were hewn- some still lie there, unfinished one too. From here we can visit the palace of queen of Sheba, and other archaeological sites. The day’s wandering ends at the small but amazing museum. Return. Dinner and overnight will be at Yeha or Remhay Hotel.
Day 8, At 10:30, drive to the airport to fly to Addis Ababa by ET123, arriving at a hotel in Addis at 4:30. Lunch will be Addis Ababa, and the rest of the afternoon will be freely spent at the hotel. In the evening at 19:30, meet in the lobby and then drive to the traditional restaurant, where you will enjoy traditional Ethiopian music performances at your fare well dinner, After the farewell dnner dive to the airport.

Day 2, After early breakfast transfer to Bole International Airport to fly to Bahir Dar (an hour flight) ET122 at 0700-0800AM, the capital of the Amhara National Regional State. Upon arrival transfer 7 kms to the lakeside hotel called Tana (3*star) hotel, which is situated, in center of the city just nearby the Market place. After check in to your hotel drive to the spectacular waterfalls called Blue Nile Falls (30kms from Bahir Dar). Tiss Abay is the small town where we take-off the vehicle and expected to walk the uphill for about 20-30 minutes to reach the best view point of the falls which has 45 meters deep and up to 400 meters wide during the rainy season (end June, July, August & September). Back to Bahir Dar for lunch, Bahir Dar is a pleasant city located at 1,800 meters above sea level on the shores of Lake Tana, the largest lake in Ethiopia. The lake is endowed with 37 islands out of which 20 of them have got monasteries to some of which female are not allowed to visit. Therefore, in this afternoon, you only visit the Zege peninsula for its famous 14th century monasteries of Ura Kidanemihret, Azewa Mariam and the island monastery of Kibran Gebriel (where only men are allowed) for their wonderful 16th century mural paintings, crowns, crosses and many old church treasures. On the way back to Bahir Dar you visit the mouth of Blue Nile River where it begins its long journey. Overnight Tana or Summer Land hotel.
Day 3, Transfer in the morning at 06:30AM to the airport to fly to Gonder by ET122 at 08:30-08:50 and then transfer from the airport to Goha- a 20 minutes’ flight. Start visiting the 17th century capital of Ethiopia: Gonder. Gondar was the first capital city of the Ethiopian empire, which began in 1632 with the reign of Fasilidas. In Gondar, there are a dozen castles built by various emperors over the course of 236 years. The city seems more European than African and also has Islamic influences. In the afternoon, we visit the palaces, residences and baths of Fasilidas; afterwards, we visit the church of Debre Berhan Selassie (Light of the Trinity), which is located at the summit of a hill and surrounded by fortified walls. The interior is decorated with beautiful frescos. Dinner and overnight stay are in a hotel with a splendid panoramic garden Goha Hotel.
Day 4, After relaxing morning, transfer to Gondar Airport to leave for Lalibela by ET122 at 0910-0940AM which used to be called Roha until the end of 12th century. Today the little town of Lalibela embraced the remarkably excavated 12th century eleven rock hewn churches that are registered as one of the world wonders. Once you checked into your hotel with a short time rest you start visiting the first group (consisting of 6 churches) of the incredibly hewn out churches that symbolizes the New Jerusalem, Afternoon, you will have a visit of the second group of churches (consisting of 4 churches) and the third group consisting only one but the most beautiful and monolithic cruciform church of St. George. It is said to be the symbolization of the Noah’s Arc. Overnight at Roha Hotel. NB. While entering to each church, you are kindly requested to take off shoes and dress modestly. This behave should be applied to all the churches in Ethiopia.

Day 6, After relaxing morning take a car for transfer to Lalibella Airport and fly to Addis Ababa by ET123 at 1140-1430. Day 2, MON, Morning drive to Langnao on the way passes through the dramatic Rift valley system in Ethiopia, visit the Lake Ziway and the morning fish market at the shore of the Lake, proceed to Langao, afternoon just enjoy the Rift valley lakes of Langnao make some activities like swimming and other sport. Overnight at Sabana Lodge.
Day 3, TUS, Drive from Langnao to Arbaminch, visiting the Rift Valley lakes en route. Lunch will be at wolayita, followed by an afternoon drive to Arbaminch via Wolayta village and chencha Mountain tour . Overnight at paradise lodge or Swaynes Hotel.
Day 4, WED, Morning drives to Dorze village, and then a visit to the traditional village of Chencha, where you will sure be fascinated by the waving style of the Dorze people. Lunch will be at Swaynes Hotel. In the afternoon, you will drive to Lake Chamo for a boat ride. On Lake Chamo you will adore the longest African crocodile, as well as some aquatic birds. Overnight at paradise lodge or Swaynes Hotel.
Day 5, THR, Drive from Arbaminch to Jinka, visiting the Konso and Derashe people on the way, and having a rest at Woyto village. Continue to Jinka for the weekly market of KEYAFER Here you will visit the Ari, Bena, Tsemi and Hammer people, then late in the afternoon drive to Jinka for overnight.Overnight at Jinka Resort or Orit Hotel.
Day 6, FIR, Drive from Jinka to Mago. In the morning, visit the Mursi village. Lunch will be served on the way in lunch boxes. In the afternoon, have some rest at Mago National Park, and then late in the afternoon, make a game drive in the park. Then drive back to Jinka. Overnight at Jinka Resort or Orit HOtel.
Day 7, SAT, Drive from Jinka to Turmi en route pass the weekly market of the ARI, HAMMER AND BENA people at Dimeka, lunch will be served en route from lunch box, late in the afternoon arrive at Turmi, Overnight camping at Keske Camp site.
Day 8: SUN, after breakfast, you will make a day excursion from Turmi to Omorate, 70 Km away from Turmi, then cross the river by local boat to go visit the Omo Geleab people. Afternoon Drive from Turmi to Korcho, visits the colorful karo people, then drive back to back to Turmi. Overnight at camping at Keske Camp site.
Day 9, Mon, Morning after breakfast, visit the very colorful Harmmer village around the camp site meet the people, visit their house, then drive to market to see the very colorful weekly market of Turmi, where you will see different cultural antiquates around the market. Then drive to camp site. Overnight at Keske Camp site.
Day 10: TUS, Drive from Turmi to Arbaminmch, en route visit the Erbore village and konso village The Konso are popular for their unique trussing style. Lunch will be served at weyto. Late in the afternoon arrive at Arbaminch. Overnight at paradise lodge or Swaynes Hotel.
Day 11: WED, Drive from Arbaminmch to wondogent, drive via Awassa visit the stunning rift valley lakes at Awassa admire the aquatic bird's then drive to Wondogent where you will enjoy the very natural spa in the Hotel, afternoon free at the Hotel or Make waking to the natural forest behind the Hotel. Overnight at WondoGent Resort Hotel.
Day 12: THR, Drive back to Addis Ababa, En route visit Abjiata Shala "National ParK” actual it is bird sanctuary, visit the ostrich Farm then proceed to the two Rift valley lakes where you will see flamingos, shall is the Nesting ground of the Flamingos and Abjata is the Feeding ground of the Flamingos then proceed to the crater lakes of Debre Zeit, popular for its bird life, on the way. Late in the afternoon arrive at Addis Ababa, Day Use room at Ghion then Evening Departure.
